Ricky Rubio, traded this season to the Utah Jazz, did not have his best day in the game he played against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team he defended last year. The Wolves, led by a great Karl-Anthony Towns, won on the court of the Jazz 98-109 in a match in which the base of El Masnou could only score three points.
Three players of the Timberwolves achieved a double-double. The Dominican American center Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 24 points and 13 rebounds, guard-forward Jimmy Butler, 21 points and 10 assists, and power forward Taja Gibson, 15 and 10, respectively. Base Jeff Teague, who held the starting job left vacant by Rubio, also shone with 22 points as second-highest scorer that allowed the Timberwolves to break their streak of two consecutive losses (8-5) and have a 52.1 percent of success in field goals (37 of 71).
On the Jazz side, rookie guard Donovan Mitchell added 24 points and Rodney Hood booked 16 that could not prevent the defeat of the Jazz (6-8), who before the game confirmed the loss for at least a month of the pivot Frenchman Rudy Gobert, injured since last Friday against the Miami Heat. Before his team, Rubio did not have the best inspiration and in the 22 minutes he played he contributed three points after scoring 1 of 7 field goals and missing the six triples he tried. The player of El Masnou was not inspired by the direction of the attack of the Jazz and gave only two assists, while he committed three turnovers. Brazilian base Raul Neto worked 17 minutes to give Rubio a rest and got five points when he scored 2 of 4 field goals, with 1 of 2 triples. Neto did better work in the distribution of the game by distributing six assists, and captured a rebound, which did not prevent the fourth defeat of the Jazz in the last five games they have played in their field.7
